Through combining the power, you can effectively increase the resolution of the display. This is usually what the coupler is being used as well. Too much frequency and power would be bad as well. The supply should just be right. It would not only mess up the reception. It will increase the reflection and this is the reason why you can see more images on the screen. To prevent this, some of the signals have to be isolated in one of the paths. Since dividers only have to paths, they are not suitable for this job.
