Should Toddlers Have Children?

by Paul Seals

Although kids advance at different ages, we can tell when they are ready for something. Because of this knowledge, choosing the iPad was an easier decision. The product features ease of use and great durability, which both must be heavily considered when letting a two year old use an iPad. Due to the trustworthiness of the construction and quality of Apple products, I knew the iPad would be fine in smaller hands.

Purchasing an iPad for a two-year-old might seem a bit far-fetched to some. We considered it for a week, even though the answer seemed obvious. We've been using technology from Apple for a while now: Macs, iPods, iPhones, and our personal iPad. We've had just about everything that they've put out onto the market, and have always had a good experience. So we decided to buy one just for him, although there were some things that needed to be done first.

I began researching iPad use for toddlers after the thought of my grandson using the iPad had been weighing on my mind. My quest began by researching the educational apps available, which proved to be quite the task for the currently untrained eye. My search yielded some undesirable results including in app purchases, inappropriate ads, etc. I spent a great deal of time adding apps to his iPad before I gave it to him.

His first interaction with the iPad is one of my fondest memories. After unlocking it, it did not take long for him to start pressing his fingers to the touch screen. The first app he chose, which is still his favorite to this day, is a game with a red plane for an icon. He loved it, and continues to return to it whenever he picks up his iPad. It turned out to be a good purchase after all!

Thanks to this experience, I started a website where I could post reviews on iPad apps that would be educational for younger children. For each app, we include three or four videos that feature the app in use, to give an idea on what it's like and if it's a good fit for your child. We want to provide parents the opportunity to see for themselves what we've already done by giving a toddler an iPad.

The purpose of our website is to help parents and caregivers make the best decision for their children. Since they've all probably got their hands full, we wanted the process to be simple and not require much work on their parts. Mostly, we wanted to introduce them to a selection of apps that would be educational and fun, with helpful reviews to aid them in the decision-making process, so that their children would receive the best that they deserve.

It is our belief that success comes only with the exposure of latest advanced technology to our younger ones. Even the government and schools are going to start using iPads, so, we better start introducing it to our kids, right from now.

If all the big firms and companies start operating through iPads, we would save a lot of paper and as a result, we can save the innumerable trees cut down every year. Huge memory in iPads allows a lot of data to be saved in it; this in turn would chuck those heavy backpacks with heavier textbooks. Who knows, the kids might go to schools feeling very light, simply taking their iPads, their lunch-box and possibly an iPhone in their pockets.
