The Benefits Of Microsoft Publisher Business Card Templates

by Jeannie Chapman

Setting up your own business can mean you have a lot of costs. You may not necessarily have the budget to find a graphic designer to create a fancy business card for you. However with a bit of ingenuity it is possible to use Microsoft Publisher Business Card templates.

Making your own card is simple. First of all you need to open the program and select the New Publication task pane. You then click on the section marked Publications for Print and you should find a specific section for business cards. Click on that and you can get started immediately.

Whatever design you choose you have to consider the relevant information needed. Contact details are essential as this is how people will find your company! While in the past this would have focused mainly on postal addresses and phone numbers increasingly more businesses use social media and promote via a variety of platforms so you may wish to include these details as well.

A double sided one is better suited to people who have a bit more information they need to impart. You may want to put contact details on the front and have more details on the back. Details on the back may include a promotion or enticing a potential customer to go on your newly relaunched website. There is no right or wrong as such it is more about choosing a design best suited to your needs.

A single sided design works best for people who only have a few contact details and a basic summary of your business. However a double sided design is best for adding more information such as special offers or if you want to encourage people to visit your website. The back is also a good place to put on a map, ideal if you are a new company and you want people to be able to find you!

The program also includes what is known as a Master Design set. This means that once you have established a design with your own logo and details for your business cards this can also apply to letterheads, brochures and so forth. This helps to establish a brand identity for potential clients. Another thing to decide is if you want portrait or landscape orientation. Portrait means the images and information are presented vertically while the landscape design means the images and information are presented horizontally. Whatever option you choose remember to check the print preview in order to ensure that the design fits the orientation.

It is also important to ensure that you keep your information up to date. You could have a lot of customers trying to contact you who may not be able to because you gave them outdated information at a networking event. You also need to be sure that it is legible and the text is big enough for people to read.

If you are using Microsoft Publisher Business Card templates for the first time then it is best to look for online tutorials. A visual demonstration can often make it easier to create a design. You should also consider whether or not you intend to use a professional printer. A professional printer is best if you want to print off a lot of them. Look online for more information and to get feedback from other users to get the best results from your design.
