Best Product That I've Ever Owned - Antivirus Scan Virus Software Review

by Allison Brooks

I have also used two competing products. Its system performance impact is something that one does notice, but it has improved over the years. Getting a bad disc was a pain but Norton took care of it. Also like to say that I have never had a virus or break-in of my computers since using it.

I've been running Norton Internet Security happily for nearly a year. So, when it was time to renew I did a little research and was not surprised to find that in function (not in theory) Norton Internet Security seems to be a top performer for a second year in a row.

That's why this combination works for now, until the beasties breed and newer versions get disseminated. Who knows what lurks behind the next web page you open. I have also installed Norton's Utilities to handle the extra functions that 360 offered. I only run it once a month. Have been using Norton for years and it works quite well and is a lot cheaper from Amazon than it is direct from Norton. Seems strange that to upgrade a program on your computer is more expensive than purchasing it new with packaging and CD but that's the case.

Now, instead of getting unwanted pop-ups trying to sell me stuff from the company whose anti-pop-up software I installed to get rid of pop-ups (McAfee), I have the option to have the ground rules that apply to other software apply equally to the anti-pop-up software (Norton). Norton also doesn't litter my desktop and Start menu with its icons, like McAfee does.

I still like NIS for its broad protection and features, but beware, not all anti-virus software will catch all viruses. You may wish to have extra protection. User Interface Norton Internet Security is, in sum, an easy-to-use program with excellent detection rates for viruses and other malware. Plus, it has a low memory and CPU footprint.

I got my rebate money in just 3-4 weeks. I seem to recall that McAfee took 3-4 months to fulfill my rebate when I last purchased from them. Arrived on time, in perfect shape, and worked as it is supposed to. Excellent product, but then I have been using Norton for a few years now. I know there are prejudice techs in IT shops. Take UF's, for example. I couldn't buy Norton Internet Security 2012 Beta, so I bought Norton Internet Security. Been using it sense, love it.

For instance, it tells me if a particular program (like Firefox or Explorer) is hogging up an unusual amount of memory. It adds a "reputation" scan to determine the reliability and trustworthiness of your existing programs. But this is a capitalist society, based on greed rather than goodwill, so we have to live with it (and that's not to say Communism or feudalism is any better, but that's another story). Norton has a subscription renewal link in the software.
