In recent years scanners, faxes, printers and copiers have all been combined in one single machine. These are referred to as multi-function or all-in-one machines, eliminating the need to purchase four different kinds of office equipment. These models are more often than not the central hub of any office environment. Home models are also available and offer pretty much the same functionality.

Unfortunately these tend to be large and often unsightly, but still take up less space than separate machines. Rewards are seen in the increased productivity of staff within an office due to the fact that multiple jobs can be run simultaneously. Touch screen interfaces use prompts to direct the users in the correct steps for whatever function is needed to be performed.

Multiple users can be linked to one single machine and access is gained by each individual by entering an assigned code, ensuring documents are kept private. Unfortunately if a problem arises it will result in all employees being affected at the same time. Commonly encountered problems are wireless connections being lost, paper getting stuck and scans failing.

Thankfully these hiccups can be easily rectified without needing a technician. Clearing paper jams can be done by following detailed instructions found on the side of the machine. Scan sensitivity can be adjusted to accommodate the document; Wi-Fi settings may be a bit more involved and may require an IT employee to sort it out.

Replacing ink cartridges on domestic printers/scanners is a pretty straight forward sort of repair. The larger office ones, however, will require a knowledgeable person to refill it. All of these do usually alert one to a refill being needed well in advance though so it should not be ignored if operations are to continue running smoothly.

Interactive troubleshooting means manufacturers can remotely assist clients with software errors, enhancing all customer services. The simple printer has now advanced in an effort to keep up to date with rapidly enhanced computer technology. Therefore manufacturer needs to constantly come up with better products and support professionals to fix your device.
