Comparisons Of The Best External Microphone For Video Cameras

by Tyrone Shum

One of the reasons the key reason why Youtube videos have been very successful on the internet is because they've had some amazing quality audio and video. Now, audios can be a little something that can make or break your video. If you've got really high quality audio, you've got to be able to get some amazing audio and footage on your cameras and also for your audience and it will retain your customers as well as keep your viewers from viewing too. So I'm going to examine 2 methods on exactly why have wired or wireless solutions for microphones so let's take a look..

The first one is a wired solution and as you will find this is the downside to wires, it gets twisted. It just doesn't appear to stay however it is simply the lowest priced solution nowadays. I can pick this up from around about $20, $30 from a local store and it does the job. And this is what it's like to actually have a good quality mic. In case you have someone standing in front of the camera or if you're walking with the camera with a mic, you will get a lot clearer given it will seem even better. The beautiful thing of getting a condenser mic is firstly, you can get far better top quality sound in order that it doesn't sound like you're in a bucket area and in addition you basically get it literally wired up to you.

The other option is the wireless solution and that is the Sennheiser EW100G3. It has incredible high high quality sound. It's just essentially the lapel mic that you see over here, then there's exactly the simple wire that goes onto my battery clip there. So if I actually switch on my camera, I can actually show you what it seems like on the other end. And this is what we've been using to actually document and get that really good audio and high quality sound. The Sennheiser itself is an impressive wireless device. However it is almost about 2,000 times a lot more than the wired solution. Now when you have an extra $600 to $700 to spend, it's great. It's a great piece of equipment to use and it also does the job very well. But if you can't manage that then obviously the wired solution definitely does the job. So have to take into account and think about which one would suit your case but in our situation, it allows us to be able to move around freely, run even in a store and catch us from many distances. And the great thing with the Sennheiser as well is that I can literally be down towards the end of the road and you'll still be able to capture my sound.

External microphones have its benefits and drawbacks. The Audio Technica condenser microphone requires you to stand near to the camera in order for it to work due to its wire. That's okay if you're in the studio or own limited budget. Though, as you've seen it's a bit of a mess if you weren't careful.

Having said that, we regularly use the Sennheiser wireless microphone that enables you to keep moving around freely and capture high quality sound especially when you're outdoors or need to move around without having a wire hanging out on your back side. Though keep in mind, when you purchase seem equipment, what you pay for is what you can get and this is true for these devices. V:2
