My Medical Practice Has Really Benefited From Using Medical Billing Companies, And I Am So Pleased With Their Service!
I had always felt that it would be nice to be able to use medical billing companies, but I didn't think that a small practice like the one I owned would be able to afford their services. Like I said before, I run a very small practice in a small town rural area. I don't make a lot of money, but I do a lot of general work and I'm very attached to the people I serve. Since our main priority is our patients and making sure their needs are met, we sometimes run into problems with billing, because we just don't have enough time for my nurse and I to follow up on each bill.
Then one day out of nowhere, our heating system just gave out and I was stunned at how much it was going to cost to fix it. We knew we would need to find some extra money, so we got out all the old billing files and tried to collect on the several unpaid bills. This is not to say that we have a lot of unpaid bills or people who won't pay us. Most of our patients are very responsible about making their payments and are content to do so, however, occasionally there are some who won't pay.
This was a very wearisome and difficult chore, and we discovered that our filing system was not actually very effective. But, we were able to call the patients who had not paid and collect the money they owed, and got enough to get our clinic back up to par. But just a few weeks later, I noticed that our furnace was making some rather odd banging noises.
I knew I needed to try to collect the rest of the money from those unpaid bills before we would need another fix. When I ran into an old buddy from the hospital, he told me about medical billing services, and how they could really benefit our practice. I considered this idea for a time and decided to look into it online. It turned out that medical billing companies are not just for big hospitals and doctors who live the high life like they do on television.
I eagerly signed us up and almost immediately I could see how much better things were running, since with the billing all being taken care of, my nurse and I were able to really focus our time and attention on caring for our patients, and not having to stress about if our bills were being paid. I am so glad we tried it, since it has really improved our business and now that we have it I can't envision going without it.
