Risk The Game Online

If you have been alive since its introduction in 1957, you probably have heard of the Game of Risk. However, what exactly is it, and how and why would one want to play it in today's age of high tech gaming wizardry?

A simple description would be to say that you are battling against other players (either human or computer generated) in a struggle to dominate the entire planet.

The game of Risk starts when all players roll the dice to see who will be the first to take their turn, once this is decided the participants can begin claiming the territories on the playing board which are divvied out via a deck of playing cards which are dealt to the players. Play continues in a clockwise direction once the initial dice winner has taken his turn with each person placing color coded 'armies' onto the countries to denote their ownership.

After each player has claimed the territories shown on the cards they were dealt, game play begins in earnest. Building up forces and then using them to conquer the oppositions territory is the goal here but it is also important not to wear yourself too thin and leave yourself open to attack. Defending at a later time must also be taken into account if you are to win this game.

Put simply, Risk is a turn-based strategy game for two to six players, each controlling their own armies and attempting to take over the world by eliminating their opponents from their territories. Classically a traditional board game, it has entered the twenty-first century by introducing Online Risk.

Online Risk brings a whole new angle to the game by allowing players to play people from across the globe or alternatively against AI opponents, also available are Risk game downloads so that you can play on the PC when an internet connection is not available. On top of this, there are also many communities dedicated to the Game of Risk to be found online where you can discuss strategy and learn new tactics for free.

Truly this is a lengthy and complicated outfit for the contemplative gamer, much like a larger scale version of chess.
