It's A Dependable Product - Business Tax Software Review
I'd estimate my financial and business needs to be about 7 out of 10 in complexity and I'm no financial wizard. It was a good solid weekend project for me and after a month, it's beginning to look like an old familiar face when I open it up.
I tried it for 5 minutes and realized it wasn't what I was looking for and am now stuck with it! I will never download another item from Amazon until this return process or money back is looked at. I still need to learn more about Quicken and its intricacies but so far it's a winner! I really thought that Microsoft Money was a great product, even though I had some issues over the years of the product freezing for unknown reasons during sessions. I had my partner (an IT professional) help me to determine that they had been downloaded but not into Quicken. After spending 40 minutes just getting some one on the phone to talk to it took another hour for the tech to tell me that I would just have to enter the transaction manually.
For example I have not yet found a way to chart income and expense on a monthly basis on the same chart without having it double count transfers between accounts. Second, today, Quicken popped-up an advertisement for a credit card before opening the software.
This got a little wonky on me and actually broke my ability to download transactions manually, in addition to not adding the accounts correctly to begin with. I started getting the infamous OL 221 - an error message. From personal experience, when problems do arise, it can be maddening. Unfortunately, there just isn't anything better that has the widespread use that Quicken enjoys which leads to enhanced compatibility with online services due to its sheer popularity.
I had been using Microsoft Money Plus for personal and two business accounts, plus various investments accounts. I was able to import the existing account data into Quicken from Money Plus.
I also enjoy the categorizing of each expense. Broader choices also mean better record keeping. And of course they changed the data format. Quicken being practically the only game in town, and I being a long time user of quicken and TurboTax was what dictated my purchase. I love the new reports and features. And this program is still the most user-friendly accounting type program I have tried. I could understand if the banks changed their formats of file protocols and Quicken didn't create a patch for older software to accommodate, which is just regular changes that happen! But to take a perfectly good working software and cut off features to make it uncomfortable to not upgrade seems sort of like a scam to make $! My husband and I have a farming operation and I've always used the deluxe version and it has met my needs in the past. Recently we've had some needs to handle a better separation between our personal expenses and business expenses.
