Manual procedures have been used for long to manage IP addresses. Managing addresses manually is a tricky process that has high chances of making mistakes. A faulty addressing system suffers from constant failures that results in inefficiency. Users fail to work as required, while engineers use more of their time troubleshooting. If these errors are reduced, it would increase efficiency for everyone involved.
