Far Exceeded My Expectations - Business Invoice Software Review
And to that the fact that I was able to download the software and begin using it right away and you have a sure winner here! I use for home finances and a very small business and it's more than adequate. All in all, after dumping the tax forms and correcting the categories to meet the tax form issues with TurboTax, it works well enough to buy a new copy every two years. Be aware that when you edit out the duplicates on the CC transactions, it will also correct the checking account balances. I had been using Microsoft Money Plus for personal and two business accounts, plus various investments accounts. I was able to import the existing account data into Quicken from Money Plus.
It seems like Intuit has suffered a major breakdown in software quality. It's time to start looking for alternatives. I figured the Expense Categories were not correct so I began the process to correct them. So after 2 hours on a chat with Intuit, I finally find out that if you have your Expenses tied to Schedule F tax schedules, they are not considered a Business Expense. I'd estimate my financial and business needs to be about 7 out of 10 in complexity and I'm no financial wizard. It was a good solid weekend project for me and after a month, it's beginning to look like an old familiar face when I open it up. I've been a Quicken user for a long time now. This newest Quicken is very similar and still easy to use. I have a real estate and property management company. Setting up accounts receivables and accounts payable for each property was very easy. What a feeling to be forced to pay for the software because they basically cut off features if you have an older version that is still working fine! Sounds sort of like a scam! I was not a beta tester and was not "encouraged" to write a glowing review by Intuit. This review only speaks to the question of whether this is a worthwhile upgrade from the 2010 version.
I imagine they did this to make the interface "look" simpler/cleaner, but now you have to rummage through the menus to find them. So, for example, the "Live Community" speed button was eliminated; it is now found as a "Help" menu item. Well, I hadn't had installed for more than 10-15 minutes when I figured out I could use it to tap into my online banking and credit card accounts and it would automatically sync and import for me. I love that it has a bunch of different categories preloaded to help track expenses, and that it helps track our loans as well.
But the overall poor experiences over the last several months are totally unacceptable. I'll be looking for other financial management software effective immediately.
Support is non-existent. Do not bother calling because you will be routed to India where a non-native English speaker will read off a laundry list script of what to do for general problems which will likely not correlate at all with the issue you may be having.
