The Very Best Item For The Cost - Landscaping Business Software Critique
One way overdue update is consolidating the save/backup file into a single file, vs 3 with 2008! The update did take a while; it immediately downloaded patches for the newer version, which seemed to take longer than I would've thought. AD I had been using QuickBooks 2000 for the last decade for my home business. I decided it was time to get updated software.
My only hope is that the Mint.com people fix the abomination Quicken has become. I have been a Quicken user since 1994 and have generally loved the product. Check Free was offered by the electronic check clearing corporation, which I began using in 1990. It's all about time management, how you manage your finances, and if you can reduce your time spent on the task, in a word 'Quality', or 'Lean', whichever you prefer.
I can't remember the last time I had a corrupted database or a program crash, and I still have all that data since 1993 in my system. There is really no way I could maintain a system this large in a spreadsheet or a self-programmed database. Admittedly it was ten years ago, but I can't say I was impressed--it was pretty buggy stuff, with terrible usability--so I wasn't looking forward to the change. The initial import of my data actually went surprisingly well. The product appears to be slower as well than the earlier version. I like the product, I use it daily, and it really helps me manage my money quite well. The help file isn't very helpful beyond basic (and I mean VERY basic) functionality. I guess you could call the help line, but my prior experience with Quicken is that they outsource the help desk to foreign countries, the technicians do not speak English as a first language and they read from a script leading you through the same not so helpful help file you just gave up on. But this time, what they did, is plain outrageous. And I'm still out the $50 for that Q2011 that I had to junk.
I used Quicken 2009 as best I could, some things like my credit cards would not download (they still don't). Is this even legal" If I had a classic VW Beetle car, would it be legal for the dealership to make the windows stop rolling down to force me to come in and buy a new car" Lack of support is the main problem. Nor one time since I purchased Quicken Home & Business, has it gotten my accts correct.
Sadly, it has gone downhill significantly in recent years. I give it two stars because although I like the idea of what it's supposed to be capable of doing, it does not work reliably anymore.
The Quicken Home & Business looked like it would meet my needs. I was unable to get Quicken 2011 to even see the QuickBooks 2000 files. It has been double posting transactions from my bank (BBVA Compass) since day one. They were unresponsive.
