Used To Be Great - Plumbing Business Software Review
Other than that, there is no customization at all (and by adding Arial text with a little bold to your invoice doesn't count). I am more than mad though since I have absolutely no way to return it since I downloaded from Amazon digital store. But then attempting to update credit card balances, import past investment and banking statements, and make it all work, another story.
It was hours of frustration with no resolution. Felt as if they held my updates for ransom. Other than that it is a good tool for keeping up with your business. Use Trade Log or some other appropriate software for accounting on your trades. Fidelity transaction data imports more quickly, but is not accurate.
I do not believe he intended to misrepresent the product just, aggressive salesmanship with poor knowledge. My opinion is without the end of year reports the product is useless. Anyway, I love the product. I would recommend it to my friends and family. The help file isn't very helpful beyond basic (and I mean VERY basic) functionality. I guess you could call the help line, but my prior experience with Quicken is that they outsource the help desk to foreign countries, the technicians do not speak English as a first language and they read from a script leading you through the same not so helpful help file you just gave up on. The problem was never fixed. The last customer service upgraded me to Quicken 2011 for Free and to this day I still having difficulty downloading statements from my bank (almost on daily basis).
Because of the very poor customer support and the step backwards in the user interface, I've downgraded my rating of Quicken 2011 to 3 stars. Hopefully, they will address these issues before the next upgrade. It will save it under that day's date or just as a file. I did not like however, the way Quicken 8 made you update to next version. I was concerned about what would happen if I had PC trouble, and didn't need to wait long to find out, as I got a really aggressive virus within two weeks of my purchase. I was able to download the product again without any trouble at all!
I wish a competitor to quicken would surface soon, because I know I'll have to convert someday, but now is still not the time. MS Money might not be supported, but it still works and meets my needs. Thank you Quicken and Amazon! I'm a salary man and occasional freelancer, renting an apartment with a long-term partner.
Boy is this stuff good! It is a little hard to figure things out exactly - for that you'd probably need Peachtree accounting but who has the time to put all that data in there - not me. Projected balance is lousy compared to MS Money's "Cash Flow" - there's no "Total of accounts" to get an overall view. When entering splits, Money would automatically spread the tax across all line items, so you could enter the exact cost of all items, and let it figure the tax for you; Quicken has no option for that.
